Hi all,
I'm considering replacing my all-in-one computer which currently handles my internet connection sharing, web serving, caching, e-mail server, file sharing etc.
I've been searching around google.co.uk/linux for a while and found nothing that answers my question:
What minimum hardware specifications are required to run linux as a dedicated firewall with 3 NICs on different speeds of connections? eg does 512kbps ADSL require a lower spec machine than say a 2Mbyte SDSL line?
How much is hardware spec dependent upon the number of client machines accessing the Internet through the firewall?
Any links and responses gratefully accepted!
For those curious I'm debating using a Via Mini-itx board with a 1Ghz Via CPU and maybe 128 or 256MB Ram.
Regards,
