LCD displays don't have a 'horizontal/vertical frequency' to worry about...
They're just a block of memory. Just continue.
WHOA!! RedHat 2.1 ???? HUH??

..being 00:30 here, but can you
use <control><alt><F1> to get a basic screen?
If so, try running (?) X86config (?) - I think it's called that, my Linux boxes are sleeping, I'm torturing a windows box by sleep depravation here ;-)
If you get just a basic text screen on startup, you might have forgotten to check 'use graphical' at the final installation screen. If so, try
startx. If that works, then a search on the forum for 'startx' should point you in the right direction.
See also www.linux-laptops.org - might be a pointer or two.
If you've just a blank screen, then -- over to the more knowledgeable folks on the forum - I'm off to bed!!
