heres the dealio.
i have a NT2000 box set up with connection sharing and two nic. Windows is assigning a class c addy to the internal card, 192.168.0.1
when i tell linux to get a IP via DHCP (which is how its done with a win box in this situatioin) it is unable to do it, i get a fail on startup. If i assign it a class c of its own (192.168.0.2 for example) the card will enable. But if Ping the ip of the card in the 2000 box, (0.1 agin) which is set in linux as the addy of the gateway, it just sits there. It sends ot packets and im sure im receving them on the 2k, but it doesnt return any info... in fact it gives no packet by packet report on the linux system. How do i get the linux system to connect via the 2k?
I am running a 2k system (Service pack , running blackICE) with a old 10/100 card for external connection, an netgear card(new) for internal(the .0.1 card) and i have the line from there running in to an etherfast hub. Into the hub are hooked a 98 box (it can get online via the 2k fine) and the linux box(mandrake 7.2) with an old etherexpress card.
BTW, i chacked my firewall.. its not blocking the linux box
