Ok this is weird, my sony vaio laptop has a touchpad mouse which was working till last night.
I made no changes whatsoever and today morning when i restart the machine, the touchpad doesnt work anymore.
Any ideas.
I assume you have no mouse in X. Take a look to the Xfree86 log (/var/log/XFree86.0.log).
Post anything you find in the log that is related to your mouse, it might tells us why it's not working.
Moving this to the Hardware forum since this is not about a Linux installation.

What device file does your touchpad use?
About the USB mouse, does it light up?

NO idea, how do I look.
About the USB mouse, does it light up?
Its a regular USB mouse, with a wheel scroller. Not an optical mouse.
Thank you.
