Using KDE 3.1

I use Konqueror and would like to use it with Evlolution but have not found any info on changing it, currently loads Mozilla on prelinks. Is there a utility in Mandrake 9.1 that allows you to change default apps? Should I just uninstall Mozilla as I don't use any of it's associated applications as well.

Another issue I've encountered is the recylce bin opening with XMMS. I have no idea how that happened but I think it screwed something up when I did 'open with' on some ogg vorbis files and checked the XMMS default for that filetype, though I don't see how as they weren't in the trash or whatever.

to anwser your first question you can change your default mail application in the kde control center under kde compoents under compoent chooser then e-mail clients and make sure use another client is selected then you will need to use the button to the right of the text box to either input the correct path to evoluation or locate it manualy. and you can uninstall mozilla if you do'nt use it this should not cause problems

what do you mean the trash bin opens with XMMS does a window open or does the trash fill up?

Ok, thanks. Mozilla still loads on links in email. Is there no way to set it to load Konqueror by default or will it always try to load Mozilla even after I remove it?

Also, what's the command for the rpm uninstaller in mdk? I'm using kde menu, not the mandrake one so some utilities are not shown.

When I click on the recycle bin, XMMS opens with the dialog to add files to play.

did you restart X after you made the change? with the key board combonation crtl+alt+backspace. you can also try changing the file assocations. are you running KDE as your desktop enviorment?

if you want to use a GUI you should be able to add and remove software via a tool called rpmdrake. If I remember correctly it is under the system configeration menu. or you can use rpm -e package name from the CL you can issue this command from a konsole after you have switched to a root prompt# you can do this by typing su then pressing enter and then at the password prompt enter your root user password then press enter then you will be dropped down to a # prompt

When I click on the recycle bin, XMMS opens with the dialog to add files to play.

you will most likley need to change your file type assocations to fix this it will help to know what DE you are running to better anwser this question:D

Well, what I need is the command to open the trash bin or somehow to make it so when I click on it it opens and doesn't load XMMS. I can still empty it but can't see what's in there if I need to restore anything.

I seriously can't think of why this is happening. I really dont remember associating XMMS with the trash bin and I'm versed enough in Windows to know what file associations are and to not do it mistakenly in Linux. Strange

edit: rpmdrake only lets me install not remove. There was a specifc shirtcut to an app that removed installed applications.
