Hello Everyone,

I am attempting to upgrade RedHat from 7.2 to 9.0 on a Compaq 1850R
with 1GB RAM, 2 x 550 Mhz, 2 x 18.2 GB SCSI Drives, Raid 1 on a Compaq SmartArray 3200 controller.

The RedHat install hangs after the following:
Running anaconda, the Red Hat Linux system installer - please wait...
Probing for video card: ATI Mach64 3D Rage II
Probing for monitor type: ViewSonic G810-2

The entire system freezes up then.

The cd's I am using have been successfully used to install RedHat 9.0 before, and test as 'passed'.

The monitor is properly detected as well, it is a ViewSonic G810-2.

I never actually get to the part where it asks me if I want to upgrade or install.

Thanks,
Didius

It may be a bug in the kernel, here is a link dell bug fix (https://support.dell.com/FileLib/Format.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=DHS&Category=0&OS=LIN&OSL=EN&SvcTag=&SysID=PWE_PNT_PIII_1650&DeviceID=4396&Type=&ReleaseID=R61737). Hopefully this will help, I first read about it on the HP server forum.
