I recently upgraded to mandrake 7.2 from 7.1, thing are fine. but one thing i noticed was that my mp3's sound like crap! i have a soundblaster live! and cambridge 4 point speakers. the bass doesn't hit at all, i've adjusted the bass in the volume control settings, as well as on the speakers. i popped in an audio CD and everything sounds normal. i booted into windows to listen to my mp3s it was fine there. anyone else had this problem before?

Yes, it is a common problem. I suggest you do a search for this in the general linux questions forum.

i couldn't find anything about that in any of the other forums or docs....i was playing around with some of the plugins, that didn't really do anything. then i decided to unplug the rear speakers and that did it!!
i don't have rear speakers, but at least the bass is back to normal.

I use the following setup and it is really nice !

SBLive value. 0.7 driver on RH7, Boston Acoustics BA4800.

Awesome sound for a PC.

By the way I have xmms and freeamp but I think the latest RealPlayer is better so I am running my mp3 on that.
