I am having so many problems with mandrake 7.2; half the programs don't even work. Does it seem like 7.2 is actually a step back from 7.1?

I would appreciate some feedback on the following two problems with Mandrake 7.2:

1) My Internet connection stopped working. Last night I logged off and went to bed, and when I woke up, it didn't work anymore! I am using kppp, and it will still dial-up to my isp, but when I try to view a webpage, nothing comes up. Netscape just sits there saying that it is looking for www.webpage.com. (http://www.webpage.com.) I can see that I am connected, and that the modem is doing something, but I can't view any webpages. I also can't telnet.

2) My sound card refuses to work. This was something that worked so easily in 7.1. I have a creative AWE64. First I used HardDrak to configure the card to x220, 5,1,5,388 and it worked fine. Then I rebooted and it hasn't worked since. I have tried using sndconfig and it will play the samples fine, but when I try to play an MP3 with XMMS, it whips through a six minute song in about 30 seconds without making any sound.

Are there any work-arounds for these problems? Please help! These are the only two things keeping me from achieving happiness, except for the buggy, crash prone CRAP that Mandrake decides to push with 7.2.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I decided to give some extra support to Mandrake by buying 7.2 complete. I wish I would have supported something a little less buggy.
:( :(

its odd that u r having these probs. You are the only one to say 7.2 is a step backwards - everyone else says it great, myself included :D

As for playing mp3 go into xxms then click on preferences then audio I/O plugins. UNder the section 'output plugin' choose 'eSound plugin'.

Your problem sounds very similar to mine. The above is what I did and after that mp3s played normally. Hope that helps.
