Hi!
I have just seen the following screenshot of mandrake 9.1 running a linux newbie machine. Does anyone know how I could get my KDE to look as cool as this:

A great site for modifying KDE is KDE-Look.org (http://www.kde-look.org)

Transparent menus can be added, just follow the steps in this thread:

KDE transparent menus (http://www.justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112290&highlight=transparent+menus) :D

I hope this helps!

turn on transparency on konsole, and menues
move kicker to top, add a new background, use gimp to make a copy of the bottom/top of the background to use in your panel, use that image for your panel image, thats about it, its all very very stock stuff to kde nothing special at all

SuperKaramba lets you use Python do all sorts of pretty GUI stuff...here are a couple screenshots I snagged off kde-look

You can find SuperKaramba itself on kde-look as well.
