I have put export __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1 in my ~/.bashrc and it does work for anything I launch from an xterm, but if launched from a shortcut vsync remains disabled. I am using morphix (a live cd distro based on knoppix (deb based distro) which I have installed to my harddrive.
The gui is xfce4 which does not support desktop shortcuts but I also installed idesk for desktop icons but yet the same behaviour.
I created a simple script to launch my games and that works with vsync enabled but variables do not seem to be able to passed to the scripts. For example I use xqf to join game servers for quake3, enemy territory and when I use the script it doesn't connect to the server, but just simply launches the game.
Is there another place to put this variable that might work for everything? .bashrc is for each user, maybe somewhere that's global? And if not is there a way to modify my scripts so they would be friendly for game browsers like xqf?
