I did'nt see the card listed on the RH 9 HCL, you may want to doubble check though:) see my sig, also have you looked at the Wireless Howto (http://www.europe.redhat.com/documentation/HOWTO/Wireless-HOWTO.php3) or at this wireless setup howto (http://www.europe.redhat.com/documentation/HOWTO/Wireless-HOWTO-6.php3) I was able to setup my D-Link router just fine with the install CD, I put the wireless card in a win 2000 box that I share access with from my linux box best of luck:D Loki3 09-11-2003, 01:23 AM Hmmm, first do the standard linux google search for the card. See if you can find out what drivers it uses. Check red hat's compatible hardware database. Check the websites for linux-wlan-ng, atmel, and orronico (spelling?) to see if your cards listed. Once you figure out what drivers you got then you should be able to get them via an RPM if your lucky or just compile them from source. Load the modules. These commands get me hooked up with the wlan-ng drivers, if it happens you use them, they should work for you too. wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_autojoin ssid=diagon authtype=opensystem ifconfig wlan0 192.168.1.*** route add default gw 192.168.1.* Hope that helps a little. Gertrude 09-11-2003, 01:28 AM I think it can use the orinoco_cs driver. Icarus 09-11-2003, 07:00 AM Originally posted by Gertrude I think it can use the orinoco_cs driver. Yup, the 1150 is an Orinoco card so it should work right out of the box with Red Hat 9. I suggest using the network GUI to setup the card in RH9 elite_syntax 09-11-2003, 09:42 AM I just want to use it for wireless hotspots in town that all. binaryDigit 09-11-2003, 11:56 AM then you might be interested in this little program: http://www.kismetwireless.net/ elite_syntax 09-11-2003, 12:11 PM I lost why would i need that for? Icarus 09-11-2003, 12:26 PM Originally posted by elite_syntax I lost why would i need that for? It's a sniffer to locate wireless networks. Unless you know where and the name of all the network hotspots, this will help in finding them... ...unless you are a GREAT guesser and can blindly find hotspots, what's the next lotto going to be? ;) elite_syntax 09-11-2003, 12:30 PM Originally posted by mahdi It's a sniffer to locate wireless networks.
