i am a Linux extreme newbie. i do not know anything but Windows. i plunged and wiped all windows from all my home machines (how do you teach a baby to swim ....) as expected, i am running into obstacles and as i am learning Linux and unfortunately, due to time constraints, i need to use windows. i have found many articles that detail how to install Linux on Windows but none that detail how to install Windows on Linux. my machine is all Linux. i am sure there is a way to use LILO (? or some other prog.) to repartition for Windows but as i said .... i hope someone can help with instructions in Crayons!!!

TIA

First, make sure you have a Linux boot disk ready. Repartition your hard drive using Partition Magic which should safely split your hard drive without harming your Linux partition. Now boot with your Windows CD and start installing it. Once that's done you'll find that LILO is gone. Boot with your Linux CD and run "lilo" to restore LILO. Edit your /etc/lilo.conf to add a new entry for your Windows partition.

I'd recommend formatting linux, and then installing windows, and THEN installing linux... Lilo should automatically customize the dual-boot screen :\
