I have been getting this error message a few times when I am logging out or logging in and the most recently occurance was when I was downloading netscape 6.
"Gdk-ERROR **: X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown)." What does it mean and how is it caused? And how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance!!
Are you talking about logging out while in XFree86(the desktop GUI)? If so, that is a normal message. It's not an error.

What happened was that sometimes, when I'm logging in or out, the GUI sorta hangs/locks up. So I switched to a virtual console with Ctrl+Alt+F1 (I'm running on Redhat 7 by the way) and that's the message I see.
If that is a normal message, then X might be hanging in the process of logging in/out. Am I right to say that? It might be also hanged when I was downloading netscape 6.
Anyway, I do not know why but this has not happened since then. It has been stable for the past few days. So I'm gonna leave it as it is. If this happens again, I'll post again and see what's up.
Thanks, pin!!
