i finally got OpenLinux on this old Toshiba Laptop I found.. 486DX2, upgraded to a whopping 28MB, and running KDE everytging is hunky-Dory... as root. I set up one user account during the install, as i would be the only user. But when i did
<<passwd usrname >> i get
passwd: Critical error - immediate abort

wtf, did i forget something? can't go on as root forever so any ideas highly appreciated.

I've heard that this error may occur when a critical system partition (/, /tmp, and others) is full. Also make sure that there are no lock files lying around from a previous use of the passwd utility. Perhaps your /etc/passwd file is corrupted somehow? Try backing it up and creating your accounts over again.

I think that may have been the problem, I reinstalled and made the /boot bigger (for kernel compiles) and / larger as well all working fine now... now if i could only get this screen thing worked out, I cant see the bottoms of my windows
