OK I installed Mandrake 7.2 and when it was time to install the bootloader it didn't give me the option, IT JUST SKIPPED IT. Man I was pissed. It installed GRUB. I think it wrote to the MBR. I have two seperate hd's and on the first is Win2k and on second which is set as slave, it has linux on it. Well when it goes to the grub screen I have no option to boot into win2k. I know that I wasn't supposed to install it on the MBR, but it did it automatically. How in the world can I get back into Windows 2000??????

perhaps use the windows 2000 disk as a rescue disk. boot off of it, and see if you can fix it. if not, use a win98 bootdisk and type "fdisk /mbr"... see if that works...
i'm not sure if any of this works... but it might.. it's what i'd do

I only know LILO so I can't really help. Unless you use the Win2K disk as a rescue disk or something...
with LILO, you can just add a few lines to the config file, and it works just fine. :) I don't know anything about GRUB though.

the same thing happened to me
i installed linux and i wasn't paying attention and i couldn't get into my windows ME, i booted my computer with the bootdisk, and did fdisk /mbr, but that didn't work, so i ran fdisk and set my main harddrive as the active partition and that did it. it didn't erase anything on it.

You can try setting up grub to also boot W2K. Here's some documentation from Caldera.

It wasn't mentioned... but just in case... make sure you have a boot disk for mandrake should you try the fdisk /mbr method. Then you can still get back to mandrake.
