anybody know how to get xmms to convert mp3's to wav's so I can burn 'em?? :eek:

I don't think xmms can do that. Try mp3burn (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp3burn/) it takes mp3's and burns them directly to a CD, without that extra step of converting them to wavs(well, it does, but it does it in the background). There's alot of other apps that do the same. Search Freshmeat (http://freshmeat.net) for mp3 to wav and see what you get.

XMMS can do it, but like silouhette said, you're better off using a specialized program.

All you have to do is change your output plugin to the disk writer plugin.

Xmms CAN do this. Go to Options --> Preferences. Under the Audio/IO plugins tab go to the bottom where you can choose your Output plugin. Change it to the "DiskWriter Plugin" then click configure which will ask you where you want to store the files etc. Then go ahead and play the songs like you would normally that you want to convert and they will convert for you. You won't hear any sound out of your speakers but you will see Xmms processing them. Hope this helps.
