I really am having trouble with, and would like to get working, is the internet connection. I use 'cox.net' as my ISP and was initially able to get on line with the RH 8 internet installation features, surfed around and even wrote a couple of e-mails.

When I shut down the unit yesterday and re-booted, to my dismay, the internet connection 'failed' on boot stating '...could not look up internet address for localhost.localdomain...'. I've no idea what to do now. I've tried to re-configure the connection, but it continues to fail. Not knowing enough about either RH or how to configure an internet connection, I am stumped. When I activate the Mozilla icon, it 'looks' as though I am connected; however no matter the connection I try, I get a '...could not connect to www.redhat.com...' or '...www.google.com...' or any other site.

The manuals presuppose a pretty good background in basics - that is why I was hoping to find a 'bonehead Linux' class for guys like me. :-)

The localhost.localdomain lives in /etc/hosts. Please post the contents of that file along with the output of the /sbin/ifconfig command.
