I recently sent an email to report a bug and send an (unrelated) patch. However, after I sent it I realized I accidently sent the message not to the appropriate maintainter but to the development mailing list for the entire project! :(

As of yet, I have not gotten a reply, but flames are obviously pending. I have not quite decided on my next course of action: I *could* send a followup "sorry wrong email" to the development list and then resend it to the maintainter, but that would result in the maintainer getting TWO copies of the message and the apology and would likely get him/her very po'ed even more so. Not to mention the reaction of rest of the people subscribed to the list.

As of yet, I have not done anything for fear of worsening the situation. Is there something that would be appropriate to do (including but not limited to the previous approach)?

Thanks, cfaun

The first thing you need to do is...

FREAK OUT!! RUN AROUND THE ROOM!!! PULL OUT YOUR HAIR!!!

Feel better?

Now forget about it. Just remember to get it right next time. Life goes on...

LOL!! Oh...that was a good visual.

You could indeed get a flame. But more than likely not. Those people are quite busy, and more than likely won't waste the time it would take to generate a flame. I would wait a few days, if you hear nothing than write to the appropriate box.
