I'm using a Linksys router so I'm on a local network. How do I see the IP address not for my computer(ex. 192.168.1.101) but for my router?

Would the default gateway for your comps on the router be set to the IP addy of that router? Maybe you could check your logs and see if you notice any traffic coming from your router... no idea otherwise... hrm. Vagrant 10-29-2001, 01:49 PM are you trying to set the ip for your router? have you looked in the router documentation .. if u have set it and u jus want to see it from ur linux box .. use the 'route' command, thats assuming u have set ur default gateway, .. check ur docs .. *vagrant Lorithar 10-29-2001, 02:09 PM ?? Peers at the question and considers... man arp. arp (neighbors) the interface to which you want to know the IP's. (it will also return MAC addresses, but ...it works ...) Just be prepared if yer on cable.. Dru Lee Parsec 10-29-2001, 02:51 PM Assuming that your network is working then your router's IP would be whatever your gateway is. It's probably 192.168.1.1 You and I probably have the same Linksys router. TO check the router settings you launch a browser and simply type: http://192.168.1.1 Into the address bar and go there. The LinkSys routers have built in web pages that let you do the administration. If it ask you for a password the default user Id is to leave it blank and the default password is "admin" unless you've changed it. justlinux.com
