The best way to learn linux is to dive right in. So far as the most secure distro, I believe the scuttelbutt is "bastille Linux" or else, get a standard linux distro, a book called "Armoring Linux" (I believe it's an O'Reilly & Assoc. title) and dive in. Alternatively, take a look on the websites for "Armored Linux" or the like. hth Lovechild 02-06-2001, 05:58 PM I like Debian... Secure and neat. U can make anything secure (Windows not included), you can't make anything neat :-) wormwood 02-06-2001, 06:05 PM downloading debian .... i think its 2 hard 2 config the network ++ in debian .. need help .. any good docs i can read ?? I have Running Linux from O'r., and i have read some NHF's (armoring linux, how 2 create a secure install ..) usual 02-06-2001, 07:36 PM Debian is the best IMHO treatment 02-06-2001, 07:47 PM I'm moving this to General-Linux Questions forum. ColdPack 02-06-2001, 07:51 PM If you use DHCP, Debian can configure that during the install. It'll also configure ppp during the install if you want it to. What's hard about that? [ 06 February 2001: Message edited by: ColdPack ] bkurt 02-07-2001, 12:01 AM My favorite is Slackware because you it kind of forces you to learn Linux better than others. But I would I would say Slack or Debian would be the way to go. I have never used Debian but have heard many good things. wormwood 02-08-2001, 08:42 AM installing debian and !! trustix !!
