So I get on this "google spree" lately. I realise how easy it is to search for a slackware package with google rather than compiling from source. And it became a habit. This was all your fault. For a while I had fallen victim to the "google search for the pre-built binary and install" way of life. And it has made me remember one of the single most reasons I love slack so much: It's rock solid ability to compile nearly everything and install without headache.
But nooooooooo...... I had to do a gooooooogle search and do things the hard way. Luckily, everythings back to normal. I got one slack box happily compiling k3b while another plays the cure and depeche mode.
I'm gonna start a new trend here on JL: The hell with google and just compile everything.

:(
Why am I always to blame? ;)
I don't remember specifically suggesting you use G4L to find and install Slackware packages? Did I?
I only suggest Google/G4L here so to teach some to be a little more self sufficient in attempting to find the answers to questions for themselves. You know what I always say about teaching a man to fish. :)
I wouldn't keep my job for very long if I always asked others for help without RTFM. I even tell the senior technical analysts to RTFM whenever they ask me for help unless I know their question is something that is not covered or hard to find the solution.
Thanks for the disclaimer Sepero. Perhaps I should add it to my signature. :D

Well, I DID find some really AWSOME wallpapers last night on google.....
As for this google thing..... I have compiled *23* kernels in the last 24 hours, and while I got some rather mind blowing performance, I do not have what I origonally set out for. But I won't complain - no wait, I am gonna complain.
I got sunburned all to hell at Busch Gardens - two days worth roller coasters is too much. I get home and one of the triodes (tubes) on my Cary CAD-300-SEI took a crap. Now I'm listening to 'Til Tuesday through one speaker until a replacement tube arrives - 85 friggin dollars/ triode, and thats a russian tube! And you got to buy them in pairs otherwise ultra hi-fi fussies like myself will whine about unbalanced sound. My satelite card got hit again (we won't even get into that). TCWO did not ship the 4 DVD drives they were supposed to send so I had to run to staples to finish a system that was supposed to be done yesterday. And still no hi-res video on my start up console? I'm gonna screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam!
Ok, I feel better now.
Well, on a lighter note I did find some pretty good deals on tubes through google this morning.:D

I guesse I could let ya see a "real" audio system sometime. Although everything is currently in chaos at my house. I'm getting ready to temporarily move to Tennessee and likely move somewhere around Portsmouth (England) within the next year. Still saving up the $$ to do it right now.
Let me tell you, hearing Aime Mann through a SB Audigy, The Cary Amp/PreAmp, and a set of JM lab Mini Utopia's is *just* as good as actually being there.

I have a old Radio Shack receiver that I bought in about 1988. I also have some very large Mach II speakers. Sounds good to me but, what do I know.
Tennessee huh? I'm not far away. Well, for medical reasons I can't go that far. Heck going to town and getting groceries is rough enough.
Do like Til Tuesday though.
