hey everyone, lately i've been thinking about learning C++ and was wondering where everyone else has learned it from. i'm looking for a decent book that teaches from more of a linux perspective and definitely has to use gcc as the compiler. any suggestions?

Have a look through these JL forum search results (titles only) for 'books' (http://justlinux.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=727199&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) as many are on C/C++.

The Programming forum should also have threads with links to C/C++ related stuff.

Do you know C already or not. If you don't know C, then you're probably going through much of the same frustrations I've gone through. I never found any really good online tutorials for "100% C++ beginners", so coincidentally, I'm writting one myself.
Unfortunatley, it's not quite ready for the public yet. If anyone would like me to send them a copy of what I have so far, just write me a Private Message asking.
For everyone else, the best beginners course that I was able find was at:
