Unruly 09-14-2001, 12:32 PM due to the way linux handles files and such, there is little need to do a defragmentation for a VERY long time. However, I do know there is a defragmentation program in development, currently it has a tendancy to destory data... :) welcome to the wild world of no windows... :) now, you have 2 hours back to play with linux Malakin 09-14-2001, 07:02 PM Whether there's a defrag program depends on what filesystem you're using. ext2 has a program called defrag, but if you're using reiser there isn't one yet (afaik). XFS and JFS may have one since they've been around for a while but I'm not sure. justlinux.com
