I updated my xfree86, and installed the nvidia drivers for linux, I have a geforce 256 ddr, and I get that error, same thing in root... any ideas?

Did you make sure to have the NVIDIA drivers and GLX stuff load correctly? Do you have any problems with other OpenGL games like Quake3 or UT?
