I have 2 questions -

1) how to I allow one user access to other directories, without granting them access to above directories? ie: bob has a home \HOME\BOB, bob also needs acess to the live web directory \HOME\WWW but i dont want to allow bob access to anything but bob and WWW, i dont want bob to know HOME exists.

2) How do I limit user browsing access? If a user logs in the go to thier home directory, however if they logged in via a command live ftp client, they can "cd .." up to "\" and around to view anything. How do I limit the user to thier diertory only?

i have never used proftp myself but a quick G4L search & found these results
Proftp limiting access (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&q=Proftp+limiting+access&btnG=Google+Search)

I hope this points you in the right direction

put in a "DefaultRoot ~" in the proftpd.conf. It will restrict users to their home directories
