My video card used to work in X (Gnome). Then I did some hardware tinkering (that didnt work) and I went back to the original setup. now, no matter which card I try Trident PCI 9440 or 8690 (?) neither will pass the Xconfiguartor final tests, not will they load into X - no matter what setting(s) I use.

Any ideas?

what error do you get, that would probably help a lot....
