traceroute on a port

Why would you want to? All the ports are on the same computer... and anyway, I think traceroute uses ICMP, not TCP or UDP, so it desn't even have port numbers.

my gaim for msn isn't working properly, when I'm in another location it works fine. I'm wondering where the breakdown is. for some reason I can't ping it. I can run a tracert to messenger.hotmail.com. It gets to sl-gw14-sea-7-0.sprintlink.net. before it diseappears. It looks like it's in seattle. any ideas?

Ran nmap (i don't know why I didn't think of this) port 80 is open and port 1863 is filtered. maybe they changed their ports....

So I checked out the gaim website, from today.
