Im trying to upgrade Debian2.1's xfree to xfree4.02 but when i try to run xf86config i get a segmnetation fault, i try to apt-get libc6 and get the same message, please help.

ps, how do i config the sound in debian.

humm, i had no problem with xfree86 in debain 2.2 and if you are getting a seg fault on xf86config i am guessing there is something afoot because this does not start X, it just creates the /etx/X11/XF86Config file (i think it is a perl script...)

on the sound - it depnds what kind of sound card you have. debain works the same as all other distros - by inserting and removing modules. if you have have a sound blaster type as root modprobe sound and modprobe sb
