I don't know where to begin...I was looking around the site and just all the info...
I am interested in making a dual boot 98SE and linux machine so I can mess with Linux in my free time, but have no idea where to start.
How useful is it? Etc...
Just so many questions and I am just lost at the moment...
Thanks for any help guys.

What distro were you thinking of starting off with?

It really depends on what you want to do, number of hard drives, etc.
The standard procedure w/ one hard drive...
Make a Windows partition and install Windows.
Install Linux, use the installer to partition the remaining space.
LILO, the Linux boot loader, will show up when you boot the machine and you get to pick which OS to use.
Of course, this is a really simple way to do it, it goes more in depth.

I want a distro that is easy for a complete n00b thats knows the in and outs of Windows 98 more then anything else. I also want to learn...so something which I can jump on fairly quickly but from there grow on it as I learn.
I just want to broaden my knowledge of computers, I can overclock and tweak, and I am now stuck, so I figured "new OS to play with"
I have been trying to make sense of the help files but, yikes, too much before I even begin and I really don't know what I need to know.

I would assume you have Win98 installed. You may need to partition your hard disk to make a new partition for Linux, or you could purchase a new disk to install Linux on it.
Try reading some of these links:
http://www.linuxdoc.org
http://www.linux.org
And of course check out the NHFs here
For newbies, Mandrake Linux seems to be fairly easy. I currently use Mandrake 8.0 and it was easy to get going.
Just dive rite in. :D

Yeah I use 98SE, and its giving me some probs after I detected a virus so I have to reformat anyway (its the main reason I am interested)
Hmm, I will try it, worst that can happen is 10 or so gig on my hard drive lay dormant...but 30gig isn't anything to complain about ;)
