hi . i have question to ask. i have a real domain name which is register in www.directnic.com
to use custom DNS in dyndns.org. They said i have to ask registrar to delegate the service to dyndns.org. Is this mean i need to write email to the company(registrar/directnic.com) that i register my domain and ask them to delegate the service to dyndns.org?

since i use dial up connection and get dynamic ip address from my ISP. The dyndns.org allow to alias a dynamic ip address to a static hostname. the dyndns so good.

(i think this topic relate to domain and networking.)

Hello,

You can change the nameservers for your domain by following these
instructions:

1. Log into your account at http://www.directnic.com.
2. Click on the Domain Manager button.
3. Click the 'Change Nameserver Information' icon (it looks like a
computer monitor) next to the domain that you wish to modify.
4. Enter the nameservers and click on the 'Submit' button. You do not
need to enter IP address to update nameservers.

You fully control the information related to your domain. You may use
your own nameservers and your own facilities to host your domains, as
long as your name servers are registered and they have a valid host
record.

Please allow up to 48 hours for nameserver changes to take effect.

If your domain is not working 48 hours after making a nameserver
change, you need to contact your host.

If you have any other problems or questions, please feel free to
contact us.

is this called "delegation'?? The entire process that they outlined is, yes.

do i have to enter dyndns.org 's name server, ns1.mydyndns.org and ns2.mydyndns.org and submit in my directnic account??? That's what it sounds like to me, though I haven't used directnic. Try logging into your account at their site, and see if you can figure a way through those instructions once you're logged in.

sigh... i just discover that the custom DNS costs additional 25 dollars for 1 year. I should do full research before purchasing a domain name.
dial up internet connection is very trouble.

Actually, that's very cheap considering the service they provide. We should be so lucky that everything useful was that cheap.
