I've heard that wine can emulate at near windows or at native windows speeds, but I can't run pinball at a playable speed. Do you need the native windows DLLs for faster performance? Are there config file tricks that increase speed? Also, I am running Gentoo if that affects anything. I've got a decent computer, 1.4 Ghz athlon, 512 MB Ram...
Also, a second, quick question: I've heard that wine runs by changing the API layer from windows to native linux calls. Why can't you just do it before the program runs, and get even faster emulation? Kinda like how prelink runs or something.
Anyway, TIA...
