Please don't turn this into a flame war.

I am after a disto that is up to date (kde2 xfree 4.xx) and is not buggy to develop on.

I want to spend more time programming and less time setting things up.

mandrake is out the question as its to buggy and slow(kde runs like a dog).

I have debian woody installed at the moment and love it but I don't have time to set it up properly.

I have heard good things about suse but as a student I really can't afford to buy the box set.

Can the latest version be bought(cd only) from somewhere?

You say you dont have alot of money. But you should be able to afford it from somewhere like amazon.com. It only costs $28 for the personal version of suse 7.1

That should sort you, and not put a large hole in your tattered student pocket!! :p

Why don't you download the "evaluation" version and burn it yourself ?

The distro is indeed very clean.

The only 'but' is that they've included too much config tools (IMHO). After disabling SuSEconfig everything runs smoothly.

In my version of SuSE 7.1 XFree-3.3.6 was the default.

O! I've just noticed you want to use kde2. It IS buggy, slow and crappy.

 blackbox

This might be your lucky day !!!

From a fellow Aussie located in Sydney, I have a boxed version of Suse7.0 Personal sitting round gathering dust as I upgraded to Suse 7.1 Professional.

The spare 7.0 Personal boxed set is yours if you want it - just pay for the postage. I was once a poor student too - many years ago now!

If your interested email me your postal address.
