for some unknown reason i cannot get kppp to route traffic so that i can browse.
mdk 8 was fine
and if i use ifup ppp0 in root it works fine, but using kppp as either an user or as root it wont route any traffic, but i get connected fine and get an ip fine
weird
can anyone help me on this one, and yes resolv.conf is set up correctly.

I have the same problem, its annoying, but its no big deal so far to run it as root. Anyone have a solution?

i think i have found the problem
do you have an ethernet card?
check in linuxconf that the default route is not set to be on the ethernet card
i checked this and it was, and now it works fine
but i still dont trust it though
i shall monitor the situation

the only problem i found is that when you enter a url or ping something it takes a second or two before anything happens, i cant think why there should be a delay though
i was wondering
would entering
search domain.com (for your isp) would make a difference in resolv.conf?

it didnt work, only way i can browse is to use ifup ppp0
none of the xbased dialer frontends and wvdial will connect but will not let me browse
what the hell is going on
then when i wanted to create an alias so i dont have to type in the ifup command all the time bash crashed!
mandrake
sort it out!!!!!

an update
after bash died on me, (dont ask)
i reinstalled and used gnome instead, and although it still used kppp the internet access is fine.
all i can think of that there must be some sort of bug in the routing as in my 1st install i set my ethernet card to be the gateway, and no matter how many times i changed it in linuxconf, it wouldnt work
now that i removed that info on the 2nd install so gateway was blank it seems to work fine.
thanks
