Hehehe..Opera is still in beta, and as a result is........quirky, let's say. For example, when I'm posting, if I press the space bar within the first 5 seconds of the loading of the page, it scrolls down to the very bottom. If I press the backspace key during that time, it sends me back a page in history.
Check out the Browser Quirks post in Rants for a list of good browsers.

What's wrong with netscape? Compared to other retail products out there (ahem ms) it only crashes a fraction as much..!
I have to say though.. In the area of browsers, linux needs to catch up. When netscape becomes stable everything will be perfect.

I must say that I do not care for Nyetscape either. I am using Mozilla, which I somehow enjoy marginally more.
As much as it pains me to say it, I really do think IE is a better browser.
What I really think needs to be done is for a coherant set of standards to be agreed upon so that all browsers implement the same DOM.
What gets me is that Netscape developed JavaScript, but seems to do the worst job supporting it. Their implementation doesn't even fully meet the standards for ECMA script.
Consequently doing any sort of DHTML is a huge pain in the ***.
It just makes the whole thing a frustrating mess.

Um, well, im posting this on Win98, with Opera 5.0 and i must say it beats the crap out of Nutscrape and Internet Exploder, both latest versions.
Maybe the linux port is not that great, but the win version rules yo a**.
Anyway, now that i *finally* got my cheap-*** an external modem, im gonna be surfin usa with linux pronto, so i too will have to look for a decent browser.
What about Microsoft Linux Explorer?? lol just joking.. may god save us from such a beast.. :)

I think it is just a beta bug. I will close that window as soon as I do a post.

I use opera at work on windows and opera at home on linux. Both are version 5. Both are incredibly quick.
Opera in windows is great. It now supports most plugins (with a little effort, see opera's site for more info). There are some quirks with it, but I like the browser more than I do the others on windows (I use IE as well, but that's because its plugin support is a lot better done).
Opera in linux is good. It does not support media plugins well (such as flash or RP) but it is faster than Netscape. It does do some strange *** things (like that space bar thingy). Realize it is still beta. I will say though, that unless Konqueror becomes all that under linux (and I can run it seperately from KDE-- I use WM -- ) I may be inclined to purchase it when it is out of beta. I almost never buy software, but this browser is that nice.
