I attend the University of Central Arkansas. (like it really matters.. http://cc.uca.edu)
Anyways, I can't seem to connect to an icq server. Licq's network log gives me this msg:

[UDP] Requesting logon (#26959)...
[UPD] Resolving icq.mirablilis.com...
[UDP] ICQ server found at 205.188.153.97:4000
[UDP] Creating local server.
[UDP] Opening socket to server.
[WRN] Timed out after 10 seconds (#26959), retry 1 of 6
After 6 tries...
[WRN] Timed out (#26959)

could it have something to do with the university firewall? although i can connect using icq in windows.. hmm... any ideas?

I doubt it's the fire wall.

What happens when you click the "next server" button on the icq menu?

Actually, I'm going to change my mind and say that your firewall may indeed have something to do with it.

try typing:

telnet icq.mirabilis.com 4000

it should just wait there until you press Ctrl-C.

I think there is a way to get around firewalls like that.
