Hi people,

may be you will think that it doen't seem logical

I've got a problem again with my laptop whjich the last time(before a month) I had fixed with my boot floppy disk created during the installation of RH9.The problem was then and now that the system bios cannot find the fixed optical and hard drive on botting. As I've said it appeared again.I have read and asked all the Dell staff but .... You know...... Dell are not what they were.....
Before a month I had fixed the problem trying to boot with the bootdisk created during the RH9 install. The problem seems to be with the ide controller on the systemboard or something and it looks as it was sleeping and waken up, cause I heard the sound from the hard disk when usually before the computer was turning on,but it happens during the booting process with the floppy not as usually at the start of the machine when the laptop is turned on .-the sound was , cause when I boot with exactly this floppy which was created for /dev/hda3 booting linux partition I've heared the sound from the hdd and I wake it up,I've been able to do it later 5-6 times with no problems and even it became reliable for a month, but now I've got this problem again and I do not have the bootdisk anymore......
Viva la linux

I'm in desperate need for such a bootdisk.
Please send me such a floppy disk created by RH9 for /dev/hda3 linux booting partition or upload it somewhere on any ftp and provide with the url

Can you access the cdrom? If so, here are instructions for making a bootdisk from it: redhat (http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.1-Manual/install-guide/s1-steps-install-cdrom.html) , this is for RH 7.1 so make sure it works for RH 9. It should work if that same directory is on the cd.
Have you tried updating the chipset drivers, they're probably from Intel and Intel has an easy site for windows machines to download from, I've never tried it with a linux machine.
Have you tried updating the bios- you will need to get it from Dell and not the motherboard mfg, since Dell has their own bios for their computers.

Can you not just visit one of Redhat's ftp mirrors

http://www.redhat.com/download/mirror.html

download the bootdisk image and then create the diskette?
