I'm curious as to what the differences between Gnome and KDE are. Besides the look, I can't tell.

(I'm going to get nailed for that one.) Use what you feel comfortable with. That's how you should do things. Though my 6 year old son doesn't seem to mind so long as he can find his games -- and yes, he does have favorites in linux as well as windows, and knows the difference between the two. justlinux.com
