why register.com cost 75 dollars for 2 years.
in yahoo, they cost 30 dollars in first year, then 2nd year will be 10 dollars.
register.com is costly expensive.
godday.com and directnic.com compare to register.com, the difference of the price is too big. i really have no idea why =.=""
anyone know?

www.gandi.net

About €12/year. And they're helpful when I buggered something up!
For hosting, have a look at http://www.ucvhost.com/
Based in India (!), very cheap and again helpful.

Been happy with both.

I've been using www.godaddy.com for the last couple years and have had no problems...why they cost $8 compared to $30 and $75? I don't know, I think heard the explaination once but can't remember why :)

I've just started using AllAboutHosting (http://www.allabouthosting.co.uk) who will give you 50Mb webspace, 750Mb/month bandwidth and a domain name for $19/year. (They also do a good range of other services, for all needs ;) )

They're well worth a look.

Heh, I use www.olm.net and have been mostly happy with them. Very little down time in the last 2 years, very fast servers (Red Hat 7.3 running Apache)...only downside with my current (cheap $9/month) plan is it's a shared server, I don't feel like spending $100/month for a dedicated...yet :D

I did realise he was asking about names, but given that he was was talking about paying $30/year for a name, I though he might value a domain name and host for less that he was paying.
