Every time I stop or exit XMMS I get a long stream of all of the sounds that I evidentally missed while my songs were playing. There seems to be a sound queue of some sort operating, and maybe only a single audio channel enabled.

Is there a way to allow multiple sound channels so I can just hear these (IM sound effect for example) while the music is playing?

I am running KDE desktop with RH9.

Even without help from the board...( :rolleyes: ), I managed to find the solution, which I will post for anyone with this problem in the future.

Under GAIM; Preferences-->Sounds-->Sound Method-->Method
Change this setting from Automatic to ESD.

For reference, I am using a C-media CM8738 soundcard.

Sorry about that as sometimes we do not know the answer to every single question. I for one does not even use XMMS and know very little about it.

However if I had known you had the CM8738 (same as mine), I might have been able to help.
