I am trying to install a system with RedHat 6.2. I want to install it as a server installation with XWindows. When I do a server install it doesn't install the XWindow. When I do a custom install it doesn't install LILO properly. I get a LIL- when it tries to boot after a custom install. How do I get around this?

What's the config of your machine? Are you duelbooting?

I know that I had a similar problem with the master boot record when I was trying to duel boot RH 6.1 With a version of Windows. It might have been problems with NTFS or FAT32.

Also, if you have the Virus protection turned on on your motherboard BIOS might be causing the problem.

The 7.1 installation is a lot nicer for partition creation and MBR writing.

No dual-boot, just Linux. Unfortunately, I have to use 6.2 to replicate a customer's install.

I did a similar install about a month ago and didn't run into any problems. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

LIL is to my knowledge a disk geometry problem.

Could you post your hardrive(s) setup and how they are partitioned?
