[ 13 September 2001: Message edited by: ajgraaff ] Unruly 09-13-2001, 01:20 PM the kernel is the kernel, just compiled for different computer architechtures... obviously there is enough of a difference between the operating code for both intel and apple to warrant a recompiled type... Otherwise, in terms of features, no, not really... error27 09-13-2001, 09:27 PM I don't think that you can get much close source software for linux ppc. companies don't want to recompile their software... lilrabbit129 09-13-2001, 11:47 PM ok now i'm confused... say i wnat to install ... something like Koffice or StarOffice.... would i need a different version for ppc and X86? i alwasy thought linux was linux... error27 09-14-2001, 12:05 AM you need a ppc version. the machine language is different. most things compile fine on either one. some things though may only compile on 386. justlinux.com
