About a week ago while lurking here, I read a post by someone asking for recommendations for a good distro. Several people recommending SuSE, a distro I had only a little experience with a long time ago.

Even though I have fast Internet access and a couple of good FTP clients, I was unable to cleanly download all of SuSE 7.1 from either their ftp site or a mirror (Sourceforge). Finally, recalling that SuSE provides excellent documentation with their off the shelf products, I ambled over to my local favorite Geek Supply house and bought SuSE 7.1 Personal Edition ($30, very reasonable).

Though I've had experience with several distros over the last couple of years, SuSE 7.1 is by far the best I've tried. While I can get from here to there in Linux, I don't really know poo from applesauce when it comes down to brass tacks (so to speak), but those folks at SuSE get an official ATTABOY for their efforts on this distro, and I'd like to thank all the folks who recommended it here.

Yeah. SuSE is an excellent choice. It's one of the best distros I've seen (only Debian beats it).

Have a lot of fun! :D
