This is curious.... and may have to do with my router more than my linux box, but here goes.
I setup a RH 7.2 the other day on an interna network connecto the internet by a linksys router / gateway. The router serves DHCP on ips above 192.168.1.100.
If the RH box is set up DHCP it has now problem accessing the internet (other than its a bit slow resolving DNS). When I force an IP (192.168.1.10) it wont reslove at all, and a ping has an 80% packet loss.
The reason I want to specify an IP is so that RH can run an intranet web server
