Hi,

Last time I was using Xmms I had also this cool visualization plugin that came with the software.

I had to restart my computer and the next time I tried to run Xmms it will just load the small window of this visualization plugin and then it would close immediately.

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

I would even try to uninstall and install again Xmms but how can i uninstall thsi program?

I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with 3D apps in GL. Every program that uses GL like Tux Racer, MeseGears demo, and the visualations close immediatly on me. I have a Geforce card as well. I bet there is just some special way we have to conifgure Nvidia cards. I have not bothered to try it anymore, becuase every time I do, I ruin my system and can not run X anymore.

Are you starting Xmms from a shortcut/menu item or from the commandline?

If you can try again using the cli/console, then there may be error messages displayed which would help to troubleshoot.

Also check for a Xmms log file to see if you can find the startup errors.

If you ever mess up an app's configuration just remove the configuration files, not the whole program. All configuration files are located in your /home/user directory with a dot in front of the program name. Use the command "ls -a" to see the dot files. To fix xmms just remove the config files and then run xmms as usual to get back the defualt settings.

rm -rf .xmms

You probably don't have the nvidia drivers installed. GF2 going to waste :)
