I have a LINUX server 7.3 set up already. I want to make it as a default gateway for my internal network (Comprising windows 9X,2000,XP). I have two NIC cards.etho is connected to the ADSL modem, which works fine. eth1 is configured for the local network. But I can't even ping my local network..Wat should I do? Is it I have to configure "iptables"? Is there any other way..I m new to LINUX..help me..TX in advance

Make sure also that the cards are connected to the right cables. Don't assume that the first (top) network card is eth0 and the 2nd is eth1. Sometimes for some reason it reverses them.

Other than that start off with ping. Ping yourself, ping others, ping from another machine.

No it is in the same subnet only. If connect in the first ethernet card(eth0) I can ping to the local network..If I use second ethernet card (eth1) I can't..What might be the reason?

any possibilities that the network card is spoilt?
