Is there a better/easier way to share files between a Linux and XP computer both hooked up to a wireless network? And can someone tell me how to configure a DI-614+ with the Abyss Webserver? Or any other webserver?

Protoss 08-06-2003, 02:55 PM Yeah, but this is over a Wireless Network and Samba needs an IP, but every computer has the same IP on our network! ph34r 08-06-2003, 03:30 PM Originally posted by Protoss but every computer has the same IP on our network! Impossible, except for that loopback address (127.0.0.1). Setup an FTP on your linux box, and mount the FTP using XP's "add network place" wizard jerbear 08-06-2003, 04:53 PM If you have multiple computers on a wireless network, I presume you have a router with DHCP. Samba has an option to allow you to connect to windows machines through the Netbios name. If you install SWAT (the web-based samba config tool) there is a wizard that auto-configures it if you have a separate DHCP server and stuff. At work (a Windows domain with DHCP), I just plugged in my Red Hat system, installed the samba tools, did a bit of configuring, and it can connect to any of the other machines on the network via name. i.e. The nameserver on the network translates the names to ip addresses.
