Hello,
This may sound like a stupid question but please do not Flame me. I have Mandrake 7.2 and, I read up on were the Theme Installer is to change the theme because the default is boring. It dosent say in My book because it is for Mandrake 7.0... Could someone please explain to me where it is?
Thanks for your time.

It would help if we knew which desktop you are using (KDE/Sawfish/BlackBox ect..) since it's different for each of them :)

My favorite is KDE... I like it the most so I guess I would want to know where it is in KDE?
Thanks.

Mdk 7.2 ships with KDE2.0. I use 2.11, but it should be the same. Click on the "K" then select "Control Center" All the stuff where you change colours/fonts/backgrounds/styles is in the "LookNFeel" section. In KDE 2.0, downloaded themes (like those from kde.themes.org) are placed in the Styles menu as far as I know.

Unfortunatly drake 7.2 ships with kde 2.0 (wich is really kde 1.94 or something like that), wich lacks theme support. Upgrade to a newer version like kde 2.1

I updated to 2.1 in one of my many installs of Mandrake 7.2 :) Frankly I didn't see any difference in Theme handling between the two. I suppose I could have missed something, but it still seems to center around the "style" setting in Control Center. I found no seperate listing for "themes" or a "theme manager" I think there once was one in an earlier version of KDE, but for some reason they eliminated it. You may need to manually place theme components in the correct folders in order to get them to work, since some tar balls are not set up to extract them exactly where they need to go. There are a number of earlier version themes available as well. I would download a few, untar them and read the "readme" files that most of them include. This should help you figure out where to install things. Personally I think Window Maker handles themes better than any of the Window Managers..............have some of the best looking ones too! ;)

Open the Control Center and it will have the KDE version listed.
