Hello all --

Well, I've succumb to total exhaustion and decided to pose my question to all the geniuses out there. I've been google-ing all day and haven't come up with any really good answer. Does anyone out there have an 802.11g network, and if so, what PCI card are you using that's compatible with Linux? (Make and model please) My network needs to be up and running ASAP, which is why I spent so little time RTFM. I apologize for being annoying. In any case, if you can answer this, you'll be my hero. Now I'm off to bed. Thanks in advance.

Chris

I've heard that the Cisco cards have pretty good Linux support.

Cisco=BAD

read this slashdot article, the bsd drivers also have a linux port. Somewhere (seattlewireless maybe) is a list of cards compatible with that driver you can find a link in the article

because I am feeling genrous:

go here - http://sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi/
download the driver and read the Readme. It tells you what cards are supported.

i have a D-LINK DWL-650G 802.11g PCMCIA card, and i went to that website( which shows that it is supported), downloaded the driver and installed it.

now when i give the command iwlist ath0 scan
it shows ath0 scan no results.

how do you guys configure this?
and i also downloaded the iwconfig tool from http://tagoh.jp/w/wirelesssw.cgi
i followed the installation instructions from there as well, got it installed. but why can't i see the GUI applet for it in GNOME?
i've been losing hairs and trying to figure this out all night, this is nuts now, guys.. :(
all i want is to get my 802.11g working. :(

any kindly suggestions, please.
