I recently just bought a new machine - Dell Inspiron 4600, 2.4GHz w/ 533 frontside, 512M DDR SDRAM, 40G HD, NVidia GeForce4 MX 440, and I have been in absolute heaven since last Tuesday. XP lasted only until I could get my hands on a Gentoo install disk. Emerging my critical apps in the background as we speak.
Now, the only problem I came into was with the very initial install stage. The machine comes with an onboard Intel Pro/100 VE NIC, which unfortunately neither the supplied Intel driver, nor the Becker driver support. I was able to borrow a NIC to get the install done, as some other people I have seen have had to do.
I was wondering though, if anyone had had any success with getting the card working - please note that this is the VE, and not the regular pro/100 (e100, and eepro drivers won't work for it).
