Hello everybody.

I was wondering how compatable my current setup is with linux before i attempt to install linux

i tried a google search on my motherboard not alot of specific results came up

anyhow here is the current setup's details (all info was obtained via win2k device manager)

MOTHERBOARD: Tyan Tiger 133 Via chipset

CPU: Intel PII 800mhz EB x2

MEMORY: 512mb pc133 sdram

NIC: Lynksys Network Everywhere Fast
Ethernet Adapter(NC100 v2)
Input/Output Range: EC00-ECFF
Memory Range: DF000000-DF0003FF
Interrupt Request: 16

VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon 7000
Memory Range: D0000000-D7FFFFFF
Input/Output Range: D000-D0FF
Memory Range: DD000000-DD00FFFF
Interrupt Request: 16
Input/Output Range: 03B0-03BB
Input/Output Range: 03C0-03DF
Memory Range: 000A0000-000BFFFF

a friend says hes no sure how my gear would run and that i should ask you guys

ANY of the later distro versions will support ALL of your hardware.

No problems with Motherboards..

I think you won't have problems with that hardware (I don't know about the ATI Radeon).

well now that i have confirmed my hardware time to do some more reading about distros and whatnot this whole linux thing is rather fun and i havent even started useing it!!

Also check the HCL (hardware compatibility list) for whatever distro/version you are planning to install.

All of your hardware including the Radeon should all be supported by the latest distro versions.

Just ensure you select the 'expert mode' install option so you have greater control over the entire installation process and can configure all of your hardware if required.
